Lacy was tired. Her dad always ignored her. She woke up one morning, it was 2:46 am. The stars were still in the sky. ”What’s it like? To be a star?” A shooting star flew through the sky “To be free? I wonder…” She reached out towards the ceiling of her bedroom and opened the latch. She climbed out onto the roof and sat down. She heard a small crack and jumped up. Suddenly, the tile underneath her snapped. A sudden strike of terror hit her. She ran, tiles snapping 1 by 1. Soon, she was at the edge of the roof, there was only the concrete floor underneath her. She held her breath as the tile snapped. When Lacy woke up, she didn’t hurt. ‘What?’ she thought. Surely enough, she was laid on the floor, where she had fallen. “I don’t feel well. I feel so, low and warm. Like a star!” The thought of being a star rushed through her mind. She needed proof. She rushed to her dad and shouted “Dad! Can you hear me? Or am I a star? Dad!” Her dad didn’t answer. “I’m really a star” She mumbled as she walked to her bedroom. She laid on her bed. She cried until her bed was wet through. “I don’t want to be a star. But I guess now I know what it feels like!” Two months passed and Lacy still thought she was a star. “Life is boring! No one sees me anymore. I’ll go to school to see if they realise I’m gone!” When Lacy arrived to school, it was playtime. Suddenly, she heard a shout “LACY! YOU’RE BACK!” She turned around to see her friend, Emma. “Where were you? The whole school was worried about you!” Emma cried as she ran up to Lacy. Lacy was confused “Me?” Asked Lacy, pointing at herself. Emma laughed. Lacy was still confused. “Yes YOU!
You were missing for 2 months! Where were you?” Lacy didn’t know what to say “Wait, so I’m not a star?”
“Oh.. Oh! Really? YAY!”
“Why would you be a star?”
“Bye Emma!I got to go!” Lacy ran home. Her dad was standing outside. “I’m sorry! School just called. I forgot about you. I’ll never ignore you again! Besides, I got a new job!” Lacy looked at her dad” I forgive you. What is it?”
“An astronomer! We can look at the stars together!” So that’s what they did.
Looked at the STARS.
